Correct hair loss and create a natural-looking hairline
Most men and women experience some hair loss during their lifetime.
Age Defying Dermatology addresses this problem with comprehensive options that range from medical treatments for minimizing further loss to surgical procedures for filling in bald or thinning areas.
Options for minimal hair loss
For patients with minimal hair loss, there are two medications we recommend: Rogaine® (minoxidil), a topical scalp treatment and Propecia® (finesteride), an oral medication requiring a prescription.
These medications can promote modest hair re-growth and retard subsequent loss.
For those seeking treatment of more substantial hair loss, surgical intervention usually provides a more satisfying result.
Hair Grafting
At Age Defying Dermatology, we have more than 25 years of experience in providing our patients - both men and women - with a permanent, pleasing solution to thinning hair and baldness.
Gone are the days of noticeable "plugs," "corn-rows," or unnatural-looking sprouts of hair. Instead we use the latest transplantation approach, taking some of your own hair follicles from the "fringe area" on the sides and back of your scalp and moving them to the areas of balding.
The ideal candidate for hair transplantation has healthy hair on the sides and back of the head. After determining that hair transplantation would work for you, our physicians pay meticulous attention to fine-tuning the results, so that the best cosmetic result is achieved.
An office procedure
For the hair restoration procedure a local anesthesia and a mild sedative is given. There may be some swelling, tenderness and minor scabbing for 1 to 2 weeks afterwards but most patients can return to their normal activities within 2 days.
Successful hair grafting generally takes two or more sessions. The grafted hairs grow out naturally and are virtually undetectable from normal hair.
